Mae’n bleser gen i gyflwyno Prosbectws Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr i chi ar gyfer y flwyddyn ysgol 2022-23.
Bu’r flwyddyn a hanner ddiwethaf yn un hynod, a saif cysgod Covid-19 dros yr Ysgol, fel pob sefydliad arall, ond bydd ein ffocws yn parhau i fod ar sicrhau bod eich plentyn yn cyrraedd ei botensial ym mhob ffordd yn Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr.
Yn y Prosbectws fe gewch gyfle i ddarllen am nodau ac amcanion yr ysgol, ei hethos a’i gwerthoedd. Yn ogystal, fe gewch flas ar fwrlwm bywyd academaidd ac allgyrsiol yr ysgol.
Ers ei sefydlu yn 1984, derbyniodd yr Ysgol glod am ei llwyddiant academaidd ysgubol ar lefel sirol a chenedlaethol. Ers y dechrau, mae cyfoeth ac ehangder gweithgareddau allgyrsiol wedi bod yn elfen greiddiol o fywyd a diwylliant yr ysgol. Ymfalchïwn yn ein llwyddiannau academaidd, diwylliannol ac ym myd chwaraeon, ac yng nghynnydd pob disgybl beth bynnag fo ei ddawn a’i ddiddordeb.
Un o gryfderau mwyaf yr ysgol yw ei hethos Cymreig, gofalgar, agored a hapus, lle y mae disgyblion yn teimlo’n gartrefol ac yn mwynhau eu haddysg. Ein prif nod fel ysgol yw gwneud dysgu yn brofiad cyffrous a phleserus a hynny yn bennaf trwy ddefnyddio dulliau dysgu ac addysgu diddorol a gweithredol yn ein gwersi. Mae pob disgybl yn bwysig fel unigolyn a phob unigolyn yn bwysig fel aelod o deulu Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr. Yr egwyddor hon o barchu’r unigolyn a gosod anghenion yr unigolyn yn y canol sydd wrth wraidd gwerthoedd a llwyddiant yr ysgol. Hyderwn y bydd pob unigolyn yn falch o fod yn perthyn i’r teulu hwn, yn falch o’i Gymreictod a’i ddwyieithrwydd ac yn medru cyfrannu yn gadarnhaol at gymdeithas amlieithog Cymru ac Ewrop.
Edrychwn ymlaen yn fawr i groesawu chi a’ch plant i ymuno â chymuned Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr ym Medi 2022 ac i gydweithio yn agos iawn gyda chi ar hyd y daith dros y blynyddoedd nesaf i sicrhau llwyddiant ac hapusrwydd pob plentyn.

Foreword by the Headteacher
Dear Parents/Guardians
It gives me great pleasure to present you with the Prospectus of Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr for 2022-23.
The last eighteen months have been very challenging to us as a School, as Covid-19 has cast its shadow over the School as with other educational establishments, but our focus will continue to be on ensuring that your children fulfil their considerable potential in all that they do in school.
In the Prospectus, you will be able to read about the school’s aims as well as its ethos and values. In addition you will have a foretaste of the busy academic and cultural life of the school.
Since our founding in 1984, the School has consistently attained very high academic standards at county and national level. From the outset, wide ranging and vibrant extra-curricular activities have been a notable feature of the school’s life and culture. We delight in our success in the academic, cultural and sporting realms. We take pride in the individual progress of all our pupils whatever their talents and interests.
One of the greatest strengths of the school has always been its caring, open and happy ethos where pupils feel at home and enjoy their education in a totally Welsh environment. One of our main aims as a school is to make learning an exciting and pleasurable experience; we do so by ensuring we use teaching and learning methods which are interesting and which actively involve our pupils. Every pupil is regarded as an individual who is an important member of the ‘family’ of Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr. This fundamental principle of respecting each individual and placing the individual’s needs at the centre forms the basis of the school’s ethos, values and successes. We are confident that our pupils are proud to be members of this ‘family’, proud of their Welshness and their bilingualism, and able to contribute positively to a bilingual Wales.
We look forward to welcoming you and your child to join the community of Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr in September 2022 and to work closely with you over the next years to ensure the success and wellbeing of your child.
